Thank you for your interest in our Rental Program! In the past,
we've had individual animals available to 'rent' for the
year as either a spinner's or knitter's fiber animal. Over the last
couple of years, the farm and dye studio have grown,
as have the number of animals available in the rental program. For
2008, we are growing and changing again.
We're renting 'flock shares' this year. Think of it like a fiber-CSA
program (CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture,
and usually refers to veggies. We offer a lamb/beef/pork version to
local customers now.) This change reflects a need to be better
able to provide you with the service and product you expect. Your
rental is not for any specific animal, but instead a portion of the
flock itself.
Your share runs the whole year. There is a Knitter's share, and a
Spinner's share and a Crafted share. You can purchase a share for
a friend as a gift or for yourself. You can choose either colored
or white fleece/yarn for your share. You can purchase more than one
share, and you can purchase any or all types of shares. If you have any
questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Over the course of the year you will get periodic packages from the
farm. Packages may include photos of the current happenings (lambing,
shearing, etc) as well as goodies. Goodies include
sheep's milk soap, lotion bars, herbal Moth-Away pack, hand-dyed yarns,
fleece and hand-dyed rovings (spinner's version), and hand-spun yarns
(knitters version). Details are below for the specific share-type.
You won't get the same package every time, each delivery will be a
little different.
Here’s a breakdown of what is
included for the year:Spinner’s Share: $65.00
Your share automatically includes Sheep's Milk Soap, Moth-Away pack,
periodic flock pictures & farm updates, as well as other goodies
listed above.
Spinner Shares will also get a one-of-a-kind orifice hook made here on
the farm, 3lbs of skirted
fleece, and a
total of 4 oz of hand-dyed spinning fibers from the
Fiber Elf. (Could be silk, could be bamboo, could be merino/tencel
blends - you never know!)
Knitter’s Share: $90.00
Your share automatically includes Sheep's Milk Soap,
Moth-Away pack, and periodic flock pictures & farm updates.
Knitter's Shares will also get beaded stitch markers, one lb of handspun
yarn spun by me, from the flock's fiber. Spun softly in a
2-ply yarn (if you want to discuss options like 3 ply or a particular
weight, call/email me), and a
4oz bag of coordinating colored skein-lets of FlockSock
Sock Yarn from the Yarn Fairy.
‘Crafted’ Version: Price varies. Contact me for more info.
